SAIT joined the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in 1964 and is represented today in the 4 major sports of basketball, soccer, hockey and volleyball, which are fiercely competed for at the collegiate level.

SAIT Athletics and Recreation is an innovative, student and staff centered department designed to enhance the SAIT experience through sport activities, recreation courses, extra-curricular activities and school spirit activities. Athletics and Recreation is focused on being a leader in post secondary sports and recreational activities for SAIT students, staff and the community. We provide world class service in a fiscally responsible manner.SAIT Athletics and Recreation currently offers the following services:
- Athletics - a competitive intercollegiate athletic program (The SAIT Trojans) that compete in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA).
- Intramurals - a student based, organized recreational sport program.
- Sport Clubs - student based, organized, competitive teams that compete in non-conference league play.
- Summer Sport Camps - offering camps to participants from ages 6-18 years of age in the sports of hockey, basketball and volleyball.

A Trojan is "a SAIT Athlete that possesses courageous determination and fighting spirit."Trojan Pillars
