SAIT joined the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in 1964 and is represented today in the 4 major sports of basketball, soccer, hockey and volleyball, which are fiercely competed for at the collegiate level.

Vision

SAIT's vision is sharply focused - to be recognized as Canada's premier polytechnic, one of the world's finest, setting the standard in education, training and innovation.

Athletics and Recreation Mandate and Focus

SAIT Athletics and Recreation is an innovative, student and staff centered department designed to enhance the SAIT experience through sport activities, recreation courses, extra-curricular activities and school spirit activities. Athletics and Recreation is focused on being a leader in post secondary sports and recreational activities for SAIT students, staff and the community. We provide world class service in a fiscally responsible manner.

SAIT Athletics and Recreation currently offers the following services:
  • Athletics - a competitive intercollegiate athletic program (The SAIT Trojans) that compete in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA).
  • Intramurals - a student based, organized recreational sport program.
  • Sport Clubs - student based, organized, competitive teams that compete in non-conference league play.
  • Summer Sport Camps - offering camps to participants from ages 6-18 years of age in the sports of hockey, basketball and volleyball.

Definition of a Trojan

A Trojan is "a SAIT Athlete that possesses courageous determination and fighting spirit."

Trojan Pillars

SAIT Athletes follow three Trojan Pillars:
  • Athletic Excellence - Achieve provincial and national success; Commitment to year-round training and personal improvement.
  • Academic Success - Follow a career path that leads to applied degrees, diplomas, and certificates; Maintain an acceptable academic standing as defined by the institute.
  • Community Citizenship - Demonstrate leadership skills to your team, your school, and the community; Be a positive role model.
