“D” is for Dead on Dundas

NACO Gallery Café has invited the community of Dundas West and the Brockton Triangle (along Dundas St. from Gladstone to Lansdowne) to be part of its celebration for the day of the dead:

We invited businesses and homes to create altars and installations to commemorate their close ones deceased, along Dundas Street and its surroundings for people to visit. This event will take place on Monday November the 2nd from 6pm. To 10pm.

Day of the Dead (EL Dia de los Muertos) on November 2nd is an ancient celebration from Mexico and some South American countries. Here in Canada people have been more and more exposed to this celebration, which focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died.

Traditions include building altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.
