James' Beachさんのノート

表示: すべて | 概要
When DreamWorks approached James’ Beach about filming key scenes of their film, “I Love You Man” at the restaurant they told us that Writer / Director John Hamburg insisted on two things. First, that the two main characters must have their first “Man-date” at James’ Beach, the iconic Venice restaurant that has been a neighborhood landmark for 13 years. John Hamburg has been a customer of James’ Beach, and the restaurant was written into the script by name. Second, that the two main characters would meet over plates of James’ Beach fish tacos.

The filming lasted for two days and was a lot of fun. Cast and crew often took breaks to get drinks and sushi at Canal Club (across the street). For filming the fish taco scene, DreamWorks ordered over 100 servings of fish tacos so that after every cut, a new fresh serving could be in the scene.

Of course, there really is a reason why the James’ Beach fish tacos are so good. James’ Beach uses only the best ingredients; the best tortillas and house made black beans, salsa and guacamole. The real secret however, is the fish and how it gets from boat to table. James’ Beach uses premium Mahi Mahi, a really delicious fish; while many restaurants use whatever trimmings they have left over for tacos. Mahi Mahi is one of the fastest growing fish in the ocean, so it is not being depleted like some other fish. The fish purveyor for James’ Beach uses state of the art techniques in fish handling that few restaurants would use on such a simple dish. When caught, the fish is filleted and cleaned. What’s unique, is that the fresh fish is then cut into the portion size we use for each serving of fish tacos and immediately vacuum sealed. This preserves the peak freshness and flavor of the fish. When ordered at James’ Beach, the fish is simply seasoned and cooked to order, letting the freshness and flavor come through. Added to our house made accompaniments, it is a winning combination that is hard to beat. Enjoy!

Tonight (Friday) is Lobster Shack Night at James' Beach! We fly in wild 1 1/4 lb. lobsters from Maine especially for this night. They are not tank held, so quantities are limited. These wild lobsters grow slowly and naturally in cold water, tast better and are antibiotic free. These Maine lobster prices are 25% lower than last year, so enjoy! We also have special prices on our oysters and crab cakes. Don't miss our famous clam chowder!
James' Beach will be closed for filming during LUNCH ONLY this Friday, February 27th. The bar will re-open at 5pm. We will re-open for dinner at 6pm. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Looking for a great lunch? Head down to Danny's at 23 Windward Ave.
