Happy New Year Snow Dance: Tonight's dance is on! Despite the inclement
forecast, the band has called in and is coming, and we're planning on
having the dance as scheduled. Of course use your own judgment, but if
you feel you can safely make it, we'd love to see you! ~Flying Shoes Dance

UPDATE:
As you know, immediately following Lee Stover's
June 2009 heart attack (and, thanks to many people & an AED, his recovery!!) we swiftly began a fundraising campaign to
obtain an AED for the dance
series. At that dance, we received $203 in the donation jar; a generous
and terrific start.
We then contacted the lea...dership at the American
Legion Post #43 to inquire about installing an AED, procured by BFS, in their hall. After
deliberation, the Legion leadership declined our offer to house/take ownership
of the proposed AED.
Since housing an AED at the
Legion is not an option, after much discussion and consideration, the BFS Committee has decided
to use the $203 in existing funds to host CPR/AED Training
at the Legion for interested members of our dance community. We feel this
honors the spirit of the initial donations because it broadens our community's
knowledge of CPR and AED use, the very things
that helped save Lee's life. From a wider perspective, those newly-trained
individuals would take that knowledge with them to all of the other dances and
events they attend.
If you would be interested in
taking a CPR/AED class, hosted by Belfast Flying Shoes and taught by a
certified teacher such as the American Red Cross, please email us at
belfastflyingshoes@gmail.com so that we might get an idea of how many
we need to plan to accommodate, and so that we will have your contact
information to let you know as our class comes to fruition.
Thank you,
Annadeene, Chrissy, Phyllis, & Tom

Crowfoot weaves musical influences from England, Ireland, Quebec, and the Appalachian Mountains into a captivating fusion that delights dancers and listeners alike. Into this meeting ground of traditions, they incorporate their own distinctive original compositions and songs.
Crowfoot originated in 2003, after a fortuit...ous meeting at a festival in Boston. They soon after became a touring band, playing throughout the US, Canada, and the UK. They have gained a reputation both on the concert stage and on the contra dance circuit for their trance-like grooves, subtle interplay, and unstoppable energy.
On the concert stage, rich vocal harmonies, haunting songs, and finely crafted instrumental arrangements compliment their infectious dance energy. Their diversity of instrumentation allows for a wide palette of sound, and audience members are consistently won over by the depth and variety of Crowfoot’s musical experience.
Those of you who have been to a dance Chrissy Fowler has called, know she adeptly chooses dances that mesh seamlessly with the tunes, and skillfull directs newcomers and seasoned dancers alike in a cheerful and clear manner!
