Roustabouts-the Elvis Movie Tribute Band, also known as the Roustabouts, was formed in October 2005 after lead singer, Carlos Colon, came home inspired by the Broadway musical, “All Shook Up”. The Jersey Shore band quickly gained positive word-of-mouth as their shows featured audience members joining them on stage to sing back-up, play percussion or go-go dance a la Ann-Margret. They also developed a fan base through the social networking website, MySpace.com. This led to them being featured as the opening act for Kenny Vance and the Planotones at the Sounds of Summer Concert Series at Veterans Park in Berkeley Township, NJ.
After their September 2006 performance at the “Rising From the Storm” benefit concert, which raised money for the libraries destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in Hancock, Mississippi, the band began performing regularly at resort communities, night clubs, and arenas.
The Roustabouts’ popularity has now taken them out of New Jersey and into surrounding states like New York and Pennsylvania. Their shows now features classics from artists like Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and other acts that Presley admired as well as covered on his own. Besides Colon on lead vocals, the six-piece band has Warren Otto on keyboards, Frank Agliata on bass, Bob Grady on drums, Dan Kuehl on saxophone, and Scott Engel on lead guitar. Original Roustabout, Hans Schneider returned to the band on bass in late 2009.
In 2009, the band released their first CD, “Can’t Stop Thinking About Girls” and also appeared in “I’m A Roustabout” and “C’mon Everybody”, two music videos promoting their album.
