has just been to the launch event for SolidWorks 2010. This year's focus was on simulation - i.e. how you can use your model data to recreate how it the real thing would behave in the real world. There was lots on stress, flow & motion analysis but what was really exciting was the new embedded product 'sustainability x...press' which will allow you to look at your product & see how the different materials used will affect the carbon footprint during the lifecycle. There is a quick converter built in so that you can convert the information into 'miles driven in a car' which to most people is far easier to relate to. Early days yet, but they are really leaps ahead of their competition with this one!
